Rare and lovely Mason's Patent Ironstone China teapot in the elusive brown WATTEAU pattern of what looks like 17th century couples in a garden. This toile-like pattern is repeated on both sides of the teapot. The teapot stands 9-inches tall at middle of the over-the-top handle and is about 8 1/4-inches from tip of spout to back of pot. The top edge is bordered with a flowing vine. The squarish spout has nice floral designs. The lid is embellished with berries and flowers. The lid's finger-lift, as well as the large teapot handle are covered with an ornate pattern of tiny stylized sunbursts and ovals. With the soft overall gentle crackling of the glaze, this teapot glows with style and allure. The colors shown in these pictures are extremely close to true, a soft cream background with varying shades of brown. It is in wonderful condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs, and will surely bring a light to any collector's eyes. This teapot is very rare and is seldom available for sale.
