This stunning andrare piece is part of a special collection of important designer jewelry. This particular necklace is special for a number of reasons. It’s a wonderful example of one of Max Neiger’s more fanciful and hard to find Chinese influenced designs. It’s also special because it’s made of a variety of shapes and sizes of hand blown Czech art glass beads in an unusually romantic pale pink and white tiny spatter pattern (most of his jewelry has bolder color). Most exciting though, are the intricately detailed brass connectors with Chinese character motifs, leading to an elaborate pendant with Neiger’s signature phoenix design, embellished with beads, filigree and a final tassel effect. All the beads are threaded with fine brass links; the more unusual shapes are set in fine brass filigree. The necklace, which hangs down to about 17”, measures 25 ½” long, not including the 3 ¾” long by 1 ¼” wide pendant. The smallest beads measure about 1/8” in diameter. The piece is in very good vintage condition; two of the tiny glass fringes on the tassel are cracked in place (if you view with a loop) but they are not noticeable and remain secure and intact because the beads are threaded with brass (see photos).
