This is for a lovely medal to commemorate The Exhibition of Art Treasures in Manchester in 1857. It has the grand Manchester Exhibition building on one side and reads 'opened at Manchester by His Royal Highness Prince Albert May 5th 1857'. The reverse has a group of seated artists and the date in Roman numerals. The medal comes in its original box which names the Art Exhibition, the date 1857, is marked with the medallists Pinches & Co and reads ' Die Sinkers seal engravers & Co, 27 Oxenden Street, London'. The medal is in A1 excellent condition with no damage and no wear to the silver metal. The box is also in excellent condition with some black tarnish on the top and a small crack on the rim only which does not stop it closing as it should. The medal measures 40mm (1.5") in diameter. Please check out all the other medals, exhibition souvenirs, lighters, vesta's, pipes, pens, pencils, seals, inkwells, clocks, cases and other vintage gentlemans accessories I am selling on ebay this week.
