2 Ceramiche Artigianali MOMA RaffaellescoSalad Plates Up for your consideration are 2 Raffaellesco Majolica 8 1/4" Salad Plates. This is the highly prized "Dueling Dragon" pattern, so well-known in Itlay. "This Renaissance pattern was inspired by Raphael’s fresco, often adorned with stylized mythic animals. The dragon, in particular, was a benevolent deity, granting good luck and fair winds to the seagoing merchants, as symbolized by the puffs of wind steaming from its mouth. This is still one of the most popular patterns in Italy." Pieces are hand-painted with lead-free paint in bright, cheerful colors...cobalt blue, aqua green, ocher yellow and sienna brown on a cream background. They are hand-crafted and hand-painted in Italy, and as such, may have variations in color or texture, which adds to their beauty and charm! One of the plates has a little thinner edge than the other. NEW, never used, condition. No chips, cracks, or crazing. All pieces are stamped " MOMA Ceramiche Artigianali 100% Made in Italy Lavorate a Mano". They also have a Made in Italy paper tag. I also have other separate pieces, including another set of two salad plates with a single dragon design in the middle of the plate, extra dinner plates, and mugs, as well as two baking dishes, so please see my other listings, or visit my store, "Maison de Porcelaine".
