Michigan State Fair George Romney Runs Police Horses

This is a group of 5 35MM black and white negatives taken at the Michigan State Fair on Labor Day 1962. In those days the Labor Day Rally at the State Fair was a big thing. On that day, the former Chairman of American Motors - George Romney, moved into the fair grounds to run for Governor. This is a lot of 4 negatives of Romney, (the father of Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney.) In 1967 George Romney made a move to run for president in 68, but on August 31, 1967, while appearing on the Lou Gordon Show, he uttered his famous brainwash statement, thus killing his chances to become president. Note the photographer with the dark suit, That was famed Detroit Free Press photographer Tony Spina, The final negative shows the Detroit Police Department's Mounted Horse Patrol in parade.
