Very rare US Militia belt plate. Circa 1810-1830. Early stamped brass with a patriotic eagle, crossed cannons and five pointed star. Descended from an old New England family with an interesting military history. In excellent condition. Fantastic eagle and shield is still crisp with some softening of the detail at the high points. Measures almost a square at 2 and 3/4 inches by 2 and 7/8 inches. Provenance to the winner of this patriotic treasure from a "Young America". Hello everyone, I was told by another Ebay military man that this particular plate dates from 1818. Thanks and I apologize for any errors in my description as I am not an expert in historical American military items. However, I was able to ID the plate from Cowan's auction website in Ohio where a similar plate was sold in 2006.
