This is a rare near mint condition J. W. Farr Complex Ogee Wood Molding Plane . It is in wonderful condition with hand waxed wood finish, no damage, and only light signs of use as the pictures show. It is 9 1/2 inches long and 3 1/2 inches wide. The boxed quirk and inset bead give it a very intersting molding cut. If an expert on molding planes knows what this profile is called, please let me know. J. W. Farr made wood planes from 1832 - 1852, so this plane is over 150 years old! His shop when this plane was made was at 332 Third Street in New York City, NY. The "J. W. Farr New York" logo is stamped on the front. The back is stamped "1 1/4" It has a James W. Mason mid 1800s iron that is in wonderful shiny, sharp condition and full original length, as it barely seats without cutting. "J.W.M." is stamped on the toe of the plane to identify the iron, which is rare. Book Value is $123 - $350 on a J. W. Farr Complex Molding Plane, and this one grades well in the high end of that value range because of it's near mint condition. I have a low Reserve below $150 because I originally got it as part of a large tool collection I purchased years age, and I want it to go to a true woodworker who will put it to the good use that it was made for or a molding plane collector. 's your chance to add a nice antique wood plane to your woodshop or
