Les Must de Cartier Lighter in 18K Plated Gold
History In 1972, a group of investors purchased the French luxury goods purveyor Cartier. Robert Hocq, Chairman of the Cartier-Paris Board and a hero of the Second World War, created the phrase "Le Must de Cartier." Cartier Paris, London, and New York merged nine years later to form an international conglomerate. The phrase was changed to "Les Must de Cartier," which loosely translates to "Cartier is a Must," and paired with fine accessories.
Item for Sale This is a rare example of a recently serviced gold-plated lighter by Cartier. Its fluted vertical line pattern design represents not only the 1980s but also a timeless design. The bottom is stamped with Cartier Paris and its serial number. It measures approximately 2.75" x 1.02" x 0.51" and weighs 4.17 oz. Although the lighter has minor gauges in the soft gold (see pictures), it was recently restored by Cartier. It works flawlessly and comes in a genuine felt service pouch, service receipt, six replacement flints, and a butane gas filling nozzle (see pictures). Because the box and other documents have been lost since its original purchase, it comes with separate operating instructions (see pictures).
Safety For safety reasons, the lighter will not be shipped with butane.
