Rare and beautiful late Victorian / Art Nouveau pink opaline lightshade with enameled Birds and flora. The glass body is a translucent pink which has been blown into this delicate bowl shape. It is profusely decorated by a heavy enamel frieze of floral fronds and stylised birds. Of either French or Bohemian origin and made by perhaps Serves or Moser. It would date from around 1890. Size: Glass portion - 10" wide x 8" tall (12" wide and 12" tall with the metal trim) Condition: Very Good - t are no chips or significant cracks. Some stress lines have formed w the metal ornamentation has been screwed into the base. The fine gilt paint has also worn. The chain set is missing. A stunning piece of antique glass.
