Two-piece convex brass NAUGATUCK (Connecticut) RAIL ROAD uniform button, coat size, 23 mm. The front of the button has a plain rim, a lined field, and the raised name "NAUGATUCK" along the upper edge, with the words " RAIL ROAD " along the lower edge, with the image of an 8-wheel open platform coach in the center. The button has a sturdy shank and the back mark: " WATERBURY BUTTON CO.. * " in depressed letters over a dotted line. The button is listed as 5/25 in Van Court's Transportation Uniform Buttons, Volume Number One . He says that the company was opened in 1847 and was merged into the New Haven in 1906.
