This is a very unusual 19th Century iron caliper . It is a pure Folk Art tool. Used for transferring dimensions from a rule to a work piece. Also used when a "turner" wants to transfer a diameter from an original spindle to the copy he is creating on the lathe. I've never seen a caliper such as this. Occassionally you will see come up for auction so called "lady's legs" calipers. There is no comparison to this unique tool. The metal surface shows it's age with a few spots of oxidation and discoloration. This does not detract from the piece. This would be the absolute star in any collection, be it Tools, Primitives, Folk Art, Iron Work. The winning bidder will pay $5.80 for Priority Mail shipping. I ship to U.S. Only. I accept PayPal only. No Returns.
