Horse Hair pottery is a 1,200 year-old technique considered secret by the artist but a brief description of the process is: the pottery is first fired and at certain time taken out and Horse Hair from the mane and tail are burnt in. The pottery is then again fired and then taken out and "Smoked" to add tone and hue to the pottery. The Navajo Wedding Vase is a symbol of two becoming one. Each side is for either the husband or wife while one bottom represents one heart - the joining of two. This 6" tall vase has the "Love Bird" symbol etched on both sides.
