Hand Crafted (Hoopa) Hupa or Karuk or Yoruk Native American Twined Polychrome Hat Created from Gatd Native American Plants Circa 1910 - 1935 4 inches high x 7 1/4 inches in diameter Condition: Good - t is a small vertical split near the rim that has been repaired, and a horizontal split that has been stabilized with glue. The hat is out-of-shape and uneven. This basket is made from gatd bear grass, fern, and conifer root, or other materials typical of baskets from this tribe and region. The hat is medium quality with about 12 warps and 12 wefts to the inch. The design is very nice. The Hupa Tribal Groupâe(tm)s homeland is near the mouth of the Trinity River in North West California . This basket was from a Southern California, California collection.
