This masterful copper engraving is the result of a harmonious cooperation of art and science in the early 18th century. from the first edition of: Scheuchzer, Johann Jakob. Physica Sacra. Augsburg and Ulm, Pfeffel, 1731-35. Please check out our other listings offered on ebay. We try to list new items every day and will gladly give a shipping discount on multiple purchases. This original copper engraving is from the monumental work by the paleontologist Johann Jakob Scheuchzer (Aug.2, 1672- June 23, 1733). He commissioned this work, attempting to illustrate the entire Bible, which turned out to be one of the most expensive Bible productions ever. All engravings are signed and t are many signatories, showing that t was a large group of artists that worked on this wonderful book. Size of the Print: ca. 17.25" x 12" (440 mm x 305 mm). It does not happen very often that I become enthusiastic about a printed work of art, but this outstanding production of the early 18th century deserves to be praised. Condition: On hand-made, water-marked paper in excellent condition. The leaves have never been trimmed, but merely tipped into a portfolio for safe keeping.
