for your consideration is a gorgeous, and exceptional, handled vase from the Royal Crown Pottery out of Merry Oaks, North Carolina. This pottery was only in operation for about 3 years from 1939 to 1942. However, in that time the pottery hired accomplished local potters to produce their ware. Their pots were of exceptional quality in terms of their physical appearance and their glazes were spectacular. This vase is no exception. Glazed in a superior mossy, mottled, matte green, this handled vase was hand-turned and stands about 9 1/4" tall with a rim diameter of 5". The pot is marked on the bottom with the Royal Crown Handmade Pottery ink stamp. The body and base of the vase has 5 large, thick, rings. The handles begin just under the rim edge and insert into the shoulders of the vase just above the first ring. The glaze continues to the interior of the vase and does accumulate on the bottom interior. I cannot find anything wrong with this piece - t are no chips, cracks, hairlines or known repairs. T is one dark rutile drip on the underside of the rim in one area of the rim and a couple tiny "pimples" from the firing of the piece, but these are of little consequence to the beauty of this vase. If you look carefully on the bottom of the vase, you can still see the original price in pencil of $1.50. I purchased three Royal Crown vases
