NORTHWOOD GRAPE & CABLE AMETHYST & RED CARNIVAL COMPOTE

GORGEOUS NORTHWOOD GRAPE AND CABLE PEDESTAL COMPOTE CIRCA EARLY 1900'S. THIS UNIQUE VINTAGE SCALLOPED AND FLARED BOWL SITS ON TOP OF A HEXAGON PEDESTAL.

THE BOWL AND BASE IS DEFINITELY RED GLASS UNDER THE EXQUISITE CARNIVAL FINISH. THE PIECES DISPLAY SPECTACULAR PRISMS OF COPPERS, GOLD, AMBER, FUSCHIA, PURPLE, TEAL,COBALT AND DEEP GREEN.

TO MY SURPRISE THE LID IS AMETHYST GLASS. I HAVE PHOTOED BOTH PIECES HELD UP TO THE MORNING SKY. THE FINIAL ON THE LIP IS A UNIQUE LITTLE HEXAGON SHAPE.

THIS WAS MADE BY NORTHWOOD IN ABOUT 1905 AND HAS NO CHIPS OR CRACKS THAT I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DETECT. T IS A ROUGH EDGE ON THE PEDESTAL BASE, HOWEVER IT APPEARS TO BE A SEAM EDGE.

T ARE TWO CREASES ON THE INSIDE OF THE COMPOTE THAT WERE FORMED IN THE MANUFACTURING OF THE PIECE AND DON'T DISTRACT FROM THE BEAUTY.

THE COMPOTE IS APPROXIMATELY 9 INCHES TALL TO THE TIP OF THE FINIAL AND 5 & 1/8 INCHES IN DIAMETER.

THANK YOU FOR LOOKING AND GOD BLESS!
