This is truly a fantastic & rare old piece from the Nymphenburg factory, Germany, which was first founded in the late 1700's. (History of this factory can be found on internet). To the base this figure bears the sheild impressed mark of the Wittelsbach coat of arms, the no.. 151 & the no. 5. (sadly none of this shows on photos but I guarantee it). It also has the painter's initials JH to the right hand side of tail. This piece is famous for being the first animal designed by Prof. T. Kaerner. The dog measures 10" long & is 3.5" tall. It is in perfect condition (no chips/ cracks/ crazing), just some grime to base where it has been resting on a shelf which shows it is not a modern piece. A really lovely piece, very tactile, makes you want to stroke it! Very sad to sell it but unfortuantly need the space for my ever growing porcelain collection from another factory. Will be very carefully packed & posted 1st class with proof of postage. Any queries, please contact me.
