About Ogygian - now 30, Ogygian is one of the last remaining sons of Damascus, out of the Francis S. mare Gonfalon. Hailing from the famous Tartan Farms, he was arguable one of the fastest runners of his generation. Though plagued by nagging injuries, he captured the G1 Belmont Futurity at 2 with a nine and a half length victory over Champion Sprinter Groovy. At three, he was victorious in both the G1 Dwyer S. and the G1 Jerome H. before retiring to stud at Claiborne farm with earnings of $455,520 from a record of 7-1-1 out of 10 starts. Ogygian was exported to Japan during his breeding career where he remained until being repatriated to the US by Old Friends in 2005 with the financial support of Madeline Paulson Pickens and the assistance of Megumi Igarashi.
