OHMER FARE REGISTER DAYTON OHIO BUS TROLLEY FARE BOX

The Ohmer Fare Register Company was founded in 1898. It provided various models of a mechanical device for registering and recording the fares of passenger on streetcars, busses and taxis in the early 20th century. I purchased this vintage Fare Box at a Lancaster, Pa. auction about 10 years ago. The Lancaster Transit Authority had auctioned off these old boxes years eariler and that is w the old gentleman aquired it. The box is in very clean good condition. T is paint wear on the handle and chips from use. Ther glass is excellent and the bell dings. I have no key and the change door will not shut completely without it. The box measures 22" tall and 8" at the base. It does have a plate with a name on that reads "Ohmer Fare Register Dayton, Ohio USA Type 225 Fare Box No.425.
