On the Block: A very nice old "Aladdin" wall pocket for handy storage of stick matches and kerosene lamp accessories.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It measures right about 4 inches top to bottom by 6 inches side to side, and is 1Â¼ deep, more or less. Included are a No. 6 generator, and a wick cleaner, each in the appropriate slot, as embossed, on either side of the center match holder. the pictures. ~ ~ ~ T are two holes for attaching to the wall. T is a narrow sleeve above the parts slots for paperwork, which is embossed on the front "Aladdin MANTLE LAMP" and above and behind this, the embossing reads "KEEP DIRECTIONS AND GUARANTEE CARD "Copper plated tin construction; very good condition. I did give it a pretty thorough MAAS polish, as it was very spotty and infected with vertigras. T was no way to tell how much was simple dark surface oxidation and tarnish and how much was deeper corrosion; but it polished nicely in the end, and will acquire patina naturally in due time. While one would like to preserve the earned age darkening, one would not want to preserve the melted wax, pet hair and general crud accumulated as well. No dents or structural damage, just the apparent light pitting and light general finish deterioration. Back is not polished; it is more evenly tarnished. ~ Displays very nicely.
