Purchased from a Maine estate is this old primitive wooden firkin or swing handle sugar bucket . This measures 10 inches tall and is 10 inches in diameter at the base. The bucket has a very dark patina on it and has some wear with a small wood chip near the top and a chip out of the bottom band w it is attached but nothing major. The cover is not original to the piece. It has probably been with the pice for a long time because of the dark patina but it looks homemade. It appears to be a round board with a white porcelain knob attached to the center and the underneath has 4 small nails pIaced so the cover does not slide off the top. This has alot of wear and has darkened from age. The firkin displays beautifully and is still very useable. Nice gift for the collector of old primitive woodenware. I have several old primitive and folk art items for auction this week such as dough bowls, pantry boxes, measures, toleware, ect..... Please check out my other auctions for quality vintage art pottery, majolica, stoneware, prints and primitives. I combine shipping costs on most items. Please ask questions before bidding. Please do not bid unless you intend to purchase within 10 days of close of auction. Most of my items are used and some could use a good cleaning. I sell them as I find them, I do not clean the pieces. For additional pictures,
