Found this awesome pack basket on a Northern Maine estate sale this summer. Though I'm not certain, I would venture to guess that it was made by some of our Native American neighbors in Northern Maine; i.e. perhaps the Micmac, Maliseet, or Penobscot Tribes. I am also uncertain about the age of the basket, though it appears lovingly used yet still very strong and usable. This jumbo pack basket measures 19 1/2 inches tall; approximate 15" diameter at the top rim. The circumferance at the large part of the basket (around the pot belly) is an approximate 50 inches. This is a large basket, built strong to haul the supplies of a true outdoorsman. It has wooden skids on the bottom and the bottom is in very nice shape, without holes. The top rim in also in great condition, as are the strong web straps. The sides of the basket do contain a few places w t is breakage of the splints (see photos of all 4 sides of the basket, as well as closeups of the worst of the wear). The holes have not yet affected the integrity of the basket. Its perfectly strong, and set to hike into the wilderness fully packed. Please ask all questions prior to bidding, because all sales are final on this item. I'm happy to answer any and all inquiries. This will be a large, over-sized package, so shipping will be a flat $20.
