ORIGINAL ANTIQUE ROYAL NAVY MESS PLATE NO 16 QUEEN VICTORIA REIGN A wonderful blue and white antique ceramic plate from the mid 1800s 9.75 inches across ROYAL NAVY MESS PLATE with a sailing ship to the centre with furled anchor and around the edge are images of sailing ships, towers and lighthouses -some camera flash reflection Mark on the reverse FLETCHER MILLER - BUTCHER ST. PORTSEA- close to Portsmouth which is famous for its naval dockyard There is a small abrasion to the surface [ only ] top edge of the border at 7 o clock where it looks as though a fixing wire has clipped it otherwise in excellent undamaged condition , no cracks or repairs Check out my Nelson memorabilia this week These early antique numbered naval mess plates are extremely rare and this is a museum piece There was a similar one sold by auction by the same maker at $1,000- further info can be found on line via Google - Starting at £4.99 ROYAL NAVY MESS PLATE NO 16 - there is a similar one in the National Maritime Museum Collections - Greenwich
