This no reserve auction is for an empty original box for a Lionel 2341 Jersey Central FM diesel engine. Lionel produced the 2341 in 1956 only when it was the motive power for cataloged set 2270W. Again, this listing is for the empty box only.

This corrugated cardboard box once held one of the most desirable postwar engines ever produced by Lionel. The box measures approximately 18-3/4" long and features an insert as well as Lionel wrapping paper to protect the Jersey Central. The number 2341-15 is clearly printed on the side. That same panel sports the St. Joe Paper Co. manufacturer's certificate with a 6 at the bottom indicating a 1956 year of production. It is square and strong with all flaps present and firmly attached. The open end has a NO. 2341 stamped on it. The other end is still factory sealed. There is some staining along one edge along the top where the word "TOP" is lightly written. There are a couple of faint stains but nothing bad. There is a layout diagram faintly visible on the bottom. The insert liner is missing one of the fold down flaps at one end. There is no staining on the insert. It is complete and strong. The large piece of wrapping paper is original with ribbing and a waxy finish on the non-printed side. There are some tears in the paper consistent with being wrapped around an engine for the past 55

Buyer pays $9.75 for S&H plus the cost of insurance as quoted by USPS. Please wait for an invoice prior to submitting payment. I will gladly refund excess postage if the amount listed is $1.00 or more above the actual postage cost.

If you would be interested in selling or consigning all or pieces of your collection please feel free to contact me to discuss.

I have been a member of the TCA for more than 20 years so you can . I am in the process of thinning out a lifetime train collection that started in the early 1970’s. It includes many rare and unusual items most of which are very high quality in original packaging. Some examples are a boxed 460P Piggyback Platform, boxed 3356-150 Horse Corral Platform, dealer and factory sealed items, as well as many pre and post war boxed sets. Most of my collection is Lionel with some Ives, American Flyer and other manufacturers represented. I do not have a collection list to share at this time.

When practical, multiple items may be sent together to save on shipping costs. All items are carefully packed and typically shipped via UPS Ground (large packages) or USPS first class or priority mail (small packages and envelopes) within 3 business days after payment clears. I reserve the right to choose the delivery method, whether that be UPS, USPS Priority Mail, First Class or Parcel Post at my discretion. Shipping is not a profit center for me so if I overestimate the cost I will gladly refund the difference of any full dollar amounts. Payment via Paypal is expected within 3 days unless other arrangements have been made. eBay rules require you to inquire about alternative payment methods. TCA member are given special consideration.

I am willing to work with buyers on any reasonable request. My objective is for both of us to have a positive experience. Questions during the auction are encouraged as returns will be accepted only if the item is not as described. Your inquiries are very important to me and I will make best efforts to be prompt and thorough with my responses. However, because train collecting and eBay are not my primary business my ability to continuously monitor and quickly respond to eBay related communications may be limited. Kindly allow for a reasonable response time to...
