Original RAF SD Tunic issued in December 1941. Made by Hollington Brothers Ltd. This is a size 9 jacket to fit height 5' 7" to 5' 8" tall, 39" to 40" chest and 36" waist. Please ask if you would like any specific measurements. Has Sargent's stripes on both arms and a RAF eagle badge and a 'fist and sparks' radio operator's badge on the right sleeve. There is a wireless operator's half brevet on the left chest. Made from a very heavy coarse wool material and only partially lined at the points of the greatest wear as was the case in 1941 as an austerity measure. This was due to a shortage of materials and also was a time saving issue in that the uniforms were needed quickly. Indeed the label states "Jackets, Airmen, Simplified". The tunic has its original belt which is held in place by placing it behind metal hooks at two points on the back. This tunic would be very suitable for re-enactment. Please see the Military section of my shop for other RAF uniforms and accessories - all from the same ex-RAF service man source. A great example from a specific point in WW2.
