All-original, near-mint condition, totally complete, as-issued US Vietnam War Ground Troops steel helmet. All components match perfectly in vintage and condition. Steel pot is near-unissued, with 99% of its original flat OD-green paint finish and underlying sand texturing. Potstraps are of dark OD cotton webbing, with the correct iron clip fasteners at the helmets' bales, and matte black finished iron hardware. Neither the helmet nor the chinstraps show any sign of wear or storage corrosion. Liner is similarly excellent. The compressed nylon fabric shell's interior is of shades of green. Exterior OD paint and sand-aggregate finish is approximately 99% intact and interior webbing is unmarked by soil, "head grease," or other contaminants. All liner components are of dark OD cotton webbing and, are amply marked. The unissued sweatband includes a 1974 DSA number, and the liner's integral encircling strap is stamped: "Suspension Assembly for Liners, / Ground Troops Helmet." (Undated/unnumbered liner components are often early-issue). The liner is complete with an unissued, issue nape strap. The assembled helmet and liner are topped off with, once again, a near-mint VN-era ERDL-pattern camouflage helmet cover, green side out, with VN War markings: "Cover, Helmet, Camouflage / Contract No. 8027 / FSN 8 / 100% Cotton / DPSC Dir. Of Mfg."
