Up for your consideration is this beautiful, authentic, historically significant US WWII 101st Airborne Division, 327th/401st Glider Infantry Regiment grouping from 2LT Frank Amino, hero of La Fiere Bridge -- KIA in Normandy on 19 June 1944. Frank Amino (33281287) enlisted in the Army on 25 June 1942 at Pittsburgh, PA. He was sent to Camp Wheeler, GA for Infantry training, performing magnificently, and quickly rising to Corporal by November of 1942, while at Fort Benning, GA. He attended Infantry Officer Candidate School and was commissioned an officer on 2 February 1943 (01309892). He became an Infantry Platoon Leader in the 401 st Glider Infantry Regiment of the 101 st Airborne Division, where he trained in England until the invasion of Europe (D-Day) on 6 June 1944. In all three efficiency reports he received prior to D-Day, he was rated ‘Excellent’. As 101st historians know, the 401st GIR was folded into the 327th GIR, hence, Frank Amino is listed on both unit rosters.
