Ox-Bone Handled Marine Scrimshaw Cane Originating, I assume, from America is this big solid vertebrae cane with an ox-bone tooth handle carved with crossed American flags, a star and the initials N.B. – no idea of the significance of the symbols. The tooth root end has a baleen or ebony ‘stop’. The cane is firm and solid – four sections are ‘fractured’ – not broken and the horn ferrule is split exposing the metal core. Overall the cane is in good condition. Length 35 ½”(90.4) Handle W 4”(10.3) Shaft diam.1”(2.5) tapering to ¾”(1.8) For accuracy the first 7 sections and 4 spacers are actually 7/8”(2.2) Weight 600gms unpacked Please note: I am away for a couple of days after this auction ends so there will be a short delay in posting. *Any item over 90cm long cannot be sent by ‘International signed for ’it will have to be sent ‘Global Value/Priority' also any item with an insurance value of over £500 will also have to be sent by Parcelforce. Please email for cost. Please return broken items in original packaging as I cannot make a claim without it. Paypal only from foreign buyers.
