OXFORD DIECAST, 1:43 SCALE 1958/59 BENTLEY S1 CONTINENTAL CODE 3 CONVERTIBLE IN GUNMETA L (LOT1)
The success of the R Type Continental between 1952 and 1955 lead to the creation of the S1 Continental chassis, which was released in April of 1955. Bentley enthusiasts now had a greater choice of coachwork designs to choose from with H.J. Mulliner and Park Ward responsible for bodying the majority of the 431 Bentley S1 Continentals produced. One of the most popular designs was the fastback coachwork by H.J. Mulliner, design number 7400. It was modified to fit the 3 inch longer S1 Continental chassis and in styling terms was adapted further from the R Type Continental with a raised front wing-line and less bulbous rear wings with a higher line which were finished with stylish new swage lines.
The S1 Fastback was never offered as a convertible option, probably due to its already sporting appearance & reduced boot space. However, if enthusiasm for the converted model is any thing to go by , perhaps it's a pity the real thing never materialised. Model is fitted with a soft black vinyl hood assembly with matching sun visors. This conversion offers a further option by having all side windows retained. All el se remains as issued , other th an interior details be ing highlighted throughout .
