This exhibition of paintings by Chang Dai-chien is organized to commemorate the ninety-fifth anniversary of the birth of the late Professor Chang in 1899 and the tenth anniversary of his death in 1983. The exhibition marks the first posthumous public showing of Professor Chang's paintings from any private collection As Chang Dai-chien is one of the most prominent Chinese painters of the twentieth century, his works are already in the collections of major museums around the world This exhibition comprises 122 of these works--figures, landscapes, flora and fauna painted between 1929 and 1968. They represent styles and techniques of four decades of Professor Chang's creative career, ranging from his refreshing early style as a young man to the bold splashed-ink and splashed-colour technique of his later years.
