is an interesting pair of vintage or antique drapes, from the late 1800s or very early 1900s. They were salvaged from an old home that was being demolished and had probably been t since they were new. Unfortunately, this pair had been cut off at some point to form a valance, they had originally been full-length drapery but are now "shorties" -- I'm going to guess that either the bottom of one was damaged, or the homeowners decided they wanted more light (or a more modern look?), or both. They are still neat old drapes and could easily be adapted to full-length once again, simply by adding a complimentary color of velvet beneath.Each panel measures 45" wide by 32" high, and is pleated at several points at the top. T is an open fishnet section of soft gold-colored varigated yarn or rope, bordered at top and bottom, and with interesting macrame tassels of varying length at the bottom. These are very organic in shape, they look like upside-down cattails! The base material is a soft, muted-green velvet; the lining is beige or off-white cotton. (The color in the closeup photo is the most accurate of the bunch.) They are unhemmed. T are a few missing tassels (4 on each panel) and some other issues -- mainly, a few lose edges on the trim, and the backing for the curtain hooks has deteriorated in places.
