ANTIQUE Pair of Silver Plate & Ox Bone Knife Rests C1900 No Reserve Nice pair of late 19th century silver plate & ox bone knife rests. Stamped with makers mark "TW & S" An elegant reminder of Victorian / Edwardian times when the dining table was set with all sorts of "essential" items. These were for resting the carving knife & fork to save the white linen tablecloth from being spoilt. I believe that a modern equivelent are still used on the continent (particularly France) to rest your knife & fork between courses. ********** I have acquired a fairly large collection of knife rests in all sorts of materials & forms, which I will be listing over the coming months. Condition Overall good uncleaned vintage condition with just a natural stress crack to one s ection, along with minor surface marks to the plating. Any light marks are due to lighting or flash.
