Antique Pairpoint Silver Plated base for PAIRPOINT Mt. WASHINGTON Art Glass and Silver FAIRY LAMP. Dating ca. 1890’s, Good Condition. Offered is a fancy Victorian silver-plated figural fairy lamp base marked by the maker PAIRPOINT Mfg. CO. QUADRUPLE PLATE 2319 . Measuring approx. 5.75 inches in height, this very unusual figural silver plated fairy lamp base once supported a very fine Mt. Washington art glass fairy lamp. The framed peg lamp receptacle at the top of the silver-plated frame measures approx. 1 & 5/8 inches square, within the reticulated border, and would thus accept an art glass lamp peg of similar dimensions. This fairy lamp base has the figure of a cherub-like nymph/fairy standing with musket or rifle. Behind the cherub is a stylized cornucopia which serves as a finger grip/handle for the fairly lamp. Condition, overall is good, though silver is darkened with tarnish. There are traces of old silver polish in the decoration on the footed base. There is also an area of subtle swell, or bend, on the base suggesting the lamp was once dropped and the glass broken. I have not tried to clean or polish the silver, nor have I attempted to straighten the slight bend. Please email me if you need additional photos or info. Many Thanks, JES
