This is the story of a cowboy and a camp meeting and the ranchers Kokernots, Mitchells, Meanses and McCutcheons

Paisano Baptist Encampment began with the preaching and spirit of George Truett who spent a month each summer at the Davis Mountain ranches with his rancher friends. He promised in 1913 to preach to the cowboys and ranch families as long as he lived. He did just that until his death in 19432

Truett outlived by five years his friend, L.R. Millican, soft spoken missionary to the mountains....Millican's dream fulfilled was Paisano Camp Meeting, a place that elicits such strong feeling in the souls of so many people that it defies complete explanation

This book attempts to record something of that spirit...... Photo illustrated.
