DESCRIPTION: Welcome....You are bidding on one of the most important and celebrated stars of the vintage electronic arena. This the Panasonic Transistor Model TR-005 Portable TV. The TV is often called the Space Age, Jetson's TV, Flying Saucer TV, UFO TV, Alien TV, Helmut TV, "The Eye", Sputnik Orbital TV, or The Robot TV. This TV is often associated with Space Travel, Space Ships or space craft looking objects and is associated with Space in general such as the universe, the galaxy, or the greater cosmos, among others. The look is similar to the head of Rosie the robot or even similar to the little bots in the movie "Batteries Not Included" Not only is it celebrated for its very unique, space age, satellite look, but also for its rarity in great to mint condition and in complete working order such as this one. This TV listed is a true testament to the way things used to be made. This futuristic and iconic TV was designed, developed, and mass produced in 1969-1970 in honor of the first lunar landing and man on the moon and America's great accomplished and advanced space program and space race. It is so iconic of a collectible that several museums have this beauty as part of their collections. Again a testament to the heroic astronaut era. As mentioned, it is rare to find this particular model TV intact and in great working order.
