For sale is a signed cut mounted on a 3X5 Index Card that has been autographed by Paul Schreiber (D. 1982).Pitcher Paul Schreiber holds the major league record for longest break between major league games. He appeared briefly for the 1923 Brooklyn Robins but did not play again until 1945 . That season, he was a New York Yankees coach, but a shortage of players due to World War II necessitated his activation at age 42. Schreiber coached or threw batting practice for the Yankees from 1932 to 1945. Although he was 42 at the time of his appearance with the 1945 Yankees , he had company on the team - Paul Waner appeared once at age 42, Red Ruffing was 40 and Milkman Jim Turner was 41. He later went on to spend over a decade as a member of the Boston Red Sox coaching staff. Schreiber scouted from 1959 until retirement in 1964. Schreiber was originally in the majors in 1922, pitching one inning at age 19 with no runs scored against him.
