Vintage Pelikan 400 Fountain Pen with 14 Karat 585 DEF Nib from the early 1950's. This is a vintage nib that was for extra fine writing on duplicate or triplicate style paperwork...also know as a "manifold" nib. The piston mechanism on the pen works. It draws up ink as it should and writes an extra fine line. The cap screws on and off properly. The writing sample in the pictures is from this pen. There is no writing on the cap band of the cap. Near the Blind Cap is the inscription "Gunther Wagner Pelikan". DEF is inscribed on the Blind Cap as seen in the Pictures The Nib is inscribed "PELIKAN -585- 14 KARAT DEF". The pen is just shy of 5 inches capped and a bit over 5 and 3/4 inches posted. The striated barrel is green and clear. The clear portion is very transparent. The nib screws in and out as it should. There are no personal inscriptions or gouges on this pen. There is a bit of brassing on the clip of the cap (as seen in the pictures); Overall, this pen is in excellent condition.
