Rare photos of five men sentenced to death in Ponce, Puerto Rico by garrote. They were accused of assaulting and murdering a landowner in Adjuntas and raping two women. These belonged to seditious groups who robbed landowners in the center of the island during the period continued to invasion by the United States to Puerto Rico in 1898.One of the men was sentenced to life imprisonment and four to die in the garrote. These were executed in Ponce. These photos were made of glass negatives I was informed. They are marked on the back with the name of Juan Vilaró, who apparently reproduced replicas of these photos years later being taken. The photos show the process of execution of prisoners. Photo size 5 x 4 ½ inches. These six photos were obtained from Mr. Lope Galán a coin dealer who had a coin shop in the Market Square Ponce. I paid them $ 40.00 more than 20 years ago. These photos are from 40 to 50 years old.
