This is such a nice old leather Plains doll. She has a white leather dress and moccasins with leggings. The beading is absolutely beautiful. On her bodice and shoulders are crosses, wagon wheels, and strips of beads that run down each shoulder and arm. There is also lovely beading along the bottom half of her skirt and on her moccasins and leggings. All of the beading is still in excellent condition. Around this pretty doll's waist is a leather belt with metal circles that have been stamped with little acorns. A sparkly sequin strip trims the bottom of the belt. It is unusual for me to to see a doll dressed in leather that has a fabric underskirt, but this one does - a cotton peach-colored skirt. Facial features are drawn on her leather face with a pen. She has pink cheeks. There is a small tear in the leather of her face on the left side in her ear area. Old black string creates this doll's hair which is sewn down the middle to keep it on her head. Under her hair is a sweet little black knit cap which I believe was placed there to make her hair appear thicker and black when the hair moved away from her head. This is really a great old doll that I estimate to be from the beginning 1900's or late 1800's. She is a sweet little doll, stands 9" tall, and would be a nice addition to any collection.
