Pr. Thebes Stools Chairs Liberty & Co. Arts Crafts Deco

Up for bids is this gorgeous pair of Thebes stools from the 1920's. These are fresh to the market straight out of an old Washington, DC estate. These examples have no identifying marks, but are often attributed to Liberty and Co. They are based on an Egyptian revival design, and have a wonderful graphic feel to them. These feature slatted concave seats, and are beautifully made with each slat being cut from a solid piece of wood. I have shown a picture of the underside of the stools w you can see the old saw cut marks. The craftmanship and manufacturing on these is very high, and the joinery beautiful. It is SO nice to see a pair of these, as usually you just see singles. These look like they were always together as the color and patina is the same on each. I am unsure what kind of wood these are. They have a semi-opaque stain on them which looks to be original, and is a great nutty brown color. The spindles and legs look to be a different kind of wood. The dimensions on these are 17 1/2" Sq. x 14 1/2" H. Condition is great. The are structurally sound, and t does appear to be any breaks, losses, repairs, etc. T is some separation at the tops of a couple of the legs w they are dowelled into the seat, due to wood shrinkage. It is not very noticeable, and does not distract from the beauty and usability of these pieces in my opinion.
