Rare Pre-Columbian Mayan Jade Bead-Super Color!!!
- Source: eBay
Very rare "turquoise" colored Maya jade bead. Do not mistake this bead for turquoise however. This bead is HARD, a 7-8 on the Moh's scale of hardness. For the Maya, and the other Mesoamerican cultures, green and especially bluish green, was the color of life. Beads such as this one are called "cuentas", and were often used in Mayan necklaces and beaded pectorals. The bead measures 13mm in diameter, and is in excellent condition. We combine shipping costs I have recently added a number of Pre-Columbian beads to our site on the web; please email me for the link if you are interested.
