This auction is for the hand painted Situation of America, 1848 fraktur in the hand crafted wood chipped tramp art frame pictured. It is large - measuring 17 x 22. This painting is my rendition of the well known piece of American Folk art of the same name. This large painting depicts the paddlewheeler "Sun" at its homeport in New York City. The view is most likely Brooklyn across the East River. The original piece was painted between 1848 and 1861 by an unknown artist. Not only was this a time of economic growth, this was also the year and place w the Declaration of Sentiments was drafted by Elizabeth Stanton. The Sentiments demanded equality with men before the law, in education and employment for all women. A tremendously important time in American history and for women's rights.
This is a one of a kind painting and frame that is inspired by my love of old frakturs and traditional folk art. This will be one of your family's heirlooms that will be treasured for many generations to come!
