John passed away on 26 October of 2004 but what a broadcasting legacy he left. Originally aboard Wonderful Radio London the Pirate Station of the Mid 60's in the UK. This broadcast is from 1967 and is his last broadcast prior to going over to BBC One. John Peel launched many famous musical careers and this show features some of the most rare and "groovy" psychadelic rock music of the 1960's. This is from an actual recording of the original final Wonderful Radio London broadcast back in the summer of 1967. John Peel was a broadcasting legend. His influence has towered over the development of popular music for nearly four decades. Born John Ravenscroft near Liverpool in 1939, Peel said his life was changed when he was a teenager by hearing Elvis Presley singing "Heartbreak Hotel."
