Babcock and Guy and Doris Monthan is a beautiful and informative book detailing the fascinating history of the Storyteller ceramic figurines of the Pueblos. Impressively illustrated with color and black/white photographs by award-winning Guy Monthan, this critically acclaimed book is, according to the Utah Historical Society, "a book that deserves to be read and taken to heart by scholars, collectors, and indeed anyone interested in the Southwest and its rich Indian heritage." It is a rich compendium that deals with oral traditions, cultural history, and the arts, and serves as a treasure-house for students of Pueblo culture and history. It is a comprehensive, in-depth study of this artform including biographical charts and quotations from 233 potters in addition to the 146 family members in the New Mexico area. This 201-page, 7.25 x 11.25 inch hardcover with dustjacket was printed by the University of Arizona Press, Tucson, Arizona in 1990 (4th printing). Condition of the book is like-new with one exception - t is a neatly written inscription on an inside cover page.
