You are viewing a large, Pyrex insulator. It is commonly called carnival glass insulator. It measures about 9 inches wide and 7 inches high. The model number is 353. T is a small scratch on the inside that is pictured. Insurance is included in the shipping and handling. I ship to US and APO's. International shipping please email me for prices. Below is a little bit of history on these type of insulators. Thanks for looking! In the late 20's and the early 30's of this century insulator manufacturers were looking for a more efficient insulative material and at least two companies hit upon the idea of coating glass with certain mineral salts and firing it to furnish better insulation, especially to protect the line from radio and other outside electric impulses. The result of this process produced a color and quality vary similar to the old carnival glass dishes. And so the name is being used to describe this class of insulators.Corning Glass Works, of Corning, New York, known the world over, was a well established company when pole-line insulator production began in 1926. (One Corning source sets the date as 1926, while another claims 1923.)
