An original hand signed card portrait of Queen Alexandra, depicting her holding a bunch of Sweet Peas and her Japanese Chin dog.

Signed on the front in her hand " Alexandra + her dog " in black fountain pen ink on the lower border. With handwritten personal greetings on the reverse: " With every good wish for the New Year from ". Dimensions: 5 2/5 in. x 3 2/5 in. (137 mm x 87 mm). The pictures form an integral part of the description.

Queen Alexandra (1844-1925), queen consort of King Edward VII and Empress of India (1901-1910), mother of King George V. Her father ascended the throne of Denmark, her brother became King of the Hellenes and her sister became Tsarina of Russia. King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra had six children.

In Russia Tsar Nicholas II was overthrown an he, his wife and children were killed by revolutionaries. The Dowager Empress, Dagmar, Alexandra`s sister was rescued from Russia in 1919 by a British warship, HMS Marlborough, and brought to England were she lived for some time with Queen Alexandra.

Queen Alexandra died in 1925 after suffering a heart attack at Sandringham, and was burried in an elaborate tomb next to her husband in St. George`s Chapel at Windsor. Alexandra who devoted her time to charitable causes, was greatly loved by the British people.
