QuiGon Jinn Lightsaber

QuiGon Jinn Lightsaber

Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn was skilled with this lightsaber in his grasp. When the Master was struck down by Sith Lord Darth Maul, his Padawan apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi took up the blade and avenged his death. It now belongs to Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Knight.

This lightsaber was primarily custom machined and cast in resin, then assembled onto a 3/8" diameter steel rod. The custom resin parts were painted black. The emitter head of this lightsaber prop was probably made from a radial bearing retention or retainer ring, used around the collar of bike handlebars. An exact matching bearing has not yet been found. Inset in the top is a 1 1/2" fender washer. The metal sleeve encircling the lightsaber's shaft may have been a found part. It has four long holes cut in the back but may have had more before it was cut into it's current shape. A red anodized aluminum thumbscrew was used as an activator button, manufacturer unknown. Underneath the button is a conical black rubber gasket. The black end cap was likely a found part recast in resin, but so far it's identity is unknown.
