BB24 Battle of Britain cover showing Hurricanes of No 32 Squadron and Spitfires of No 610 Squadron along with 1939-45 War Medal with MID clasp signed by Squadron Leader 'Bam' Bamberger DFC* Spitfire Fighter Ace JS(BB)24 RAF Battle of Britain cover from our Battle of Britain mini-series. The cover artwork shows Hurricanes of No 32 Squadron being serviced and prepared for battle while Spitfires of No 610 Squadron fly overhead. Both squadrons served at Biggin Hill during the Battle of Britain, and the cover has been produced to raise money for the St Georges Chapel of Remembrance, at Biggin Hill. The covers bear Gold defin cancelled with Battle of Britain The Few postmark Capel-Le-Ferne 10.07.08.
The cover is hand signed by Squadron Leader Cyril Bamberger DFC*, who served with Nos 41 and 610 Squadrons during the Battle of Britain flying Spitfire aircraft and went on to become a Fighter ace.
Numbered and certified on reverse out of 100. Squadron Leader Cyril Stanley Bamberger DFC*Bamberger joined 610 Squadron, AuxAF in 1936, on the ground staff (810024). Accepted for pilot training with the RAFVR in late 1938, he soloed in mid-1939. He was called up at the outbreak of war and on October 23 1939 was posted to 8 EFTS, Woodley and later went to 9 FTS, Hullavington to complete his training. He rejoined 610 at Biggin Hill on July
