The first edition of Ian MacNab's history and description of he Isle of Man Railway from January 1945. Title : A History and Description of the Isle of Man Railway Author : Ian MacNab Publisher : Greenlake Publications Limited ISBN : No ISBNs in 1945! Description : A small hardback book measuring approximately 16cm x 21cm with a paper dustjacket. 100pp with the photographs printed on glossy pages. Gradient profiles, two colour plates by James F Vickery (both present), 10 line drawings (includes a full page system map with the routes picked out in red), 39 black and white photographs. Nine chapters detail the history and description of the railways, Douglas - Port Erin, Douglas - Peel and Ramsey. A nicely presented volume which was reprinted by Ian Allan. In the early 1970s I think. Condition : The book is in very good condition and the dustjacket is complete but there is a small tear just inside the front flap. A previous owner has made a note within the text concerning the arrival of the County Donegal railcars in 1962. I have shown this on one of the scans. The book weighs 234g and I allow some additional weight to cover not only the actual cost of the postage but to allow for the weight of the packaging, the cost of the packaging materials and the time taken to pack and post the item.
