Rare Old Original Map done in 1855 titled on the right hand side, " Explorations and Surveys for a Rail Road Route from the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean, War Department. Labeled on the lower left hand margin is, " Drawn by John Young", and to the far right, " Engd by Selmar Siebert". The size of the map is 15 1/2" by 24 1/2". The map is in good shape for the age, but the paper is somewhat fragile. The paper is old and does show some age, a very nice map. The map has some discoloration along some of the folds-see photos. The map also has acid-free tape (3M) Brand on the back along the folds and junctions, due to the age. A normal practice for preservation and conservation on paper this old. (Please see photos for condition and exact detail). Note-Care MUST be taken when you handle this map due to the age of the paper. The image is sharp and clear, showing amazing detail of this area. The map shows: (1) Unexplored Areas (2) Upper Klamath Lake (3) Emigrant Road )4) Rogue River (5) John Mule Mountain
